Twitter announced to have lifted the 140 character limit from direct messages, what does this mean? Twitter now allow users to send direct messages that are have long characters without the 140 character limitation.
However, Tweets will continue to be the 140 characters like before, now rich with commentary as well as photos, videos, links, Vines, gifs, and emoji.
Twitter said in their official blog
We’ll begin rolling out this change today across our Android and iOS apps, on twitter.com, TweetDeck, and Twitter for Mac. It will continue to roll out worldwide over the next few weeks. If you can’t wait to try out longer Direct Messages, be sure you’re using the latest versions of our apps so you get the update right away. Sending and receiving Direct Messages via SMS will still be limited.
As seen in popular instant messaging platform like facebook messenger, whatsapp and the likes, with instant messaging having a great future, Twitter also see this as a necessity, the new roll out its really an improvement.
