A great news for Xbox and Windows 10 users, you can now capture any photo and then stick it up on Xbox Live so that everyone can see it. While the standard community guidelines will be applied to, if you are using Xbox One, you can now show up yourself without the need of custom avatar poses.
Here’s is the full guide to setting up your Xbox gamerpic, on both your Xbox One and Windows 10 computer.
Steps to create an Xbox gamerpic on Xbox One
First of all, you need to create an Xbox gamerpic on your Xbox One. To do so, just follow these steps:
Step 1: Press the Xbox button on the controller to open the menu
Step 2: Move your joystick to the profile section at the top.
Step 3: Press the “A” button to choose My profile.
Step 4: Continue to use joystick and the “A” button to choose Customize profile.
Step 5: Press on Change gamerpic.
Step 6: Upload your favorite image
Step 7: You will be taken to the UWP File Picker app.
Step 8: Browse to the folder containing your image like from a USB. You can use the hamburger menu on the left side.
Step 9: You can also hit the view key on your Xbox controller to quickly switch to a different app like Photos.
Step 10: All your pictures saved in OneDrive’s directory will be displayed on the screen. All you need is to access OneDrive.com or sign in to your account into your Windows 10 PC.
Step 11: Head to the picture you want and use the “A” button and the joystick to choose it. Remember that the picture you use is at least 1080 x 1080 size.
Step 12: Once you have chosen your desired picture, just crop it using the controls on the screen, and you are done.
Finally, choose Upload and Microsoft will apply the picture in a minute and you are good to go.
Steps to create a custom Xbox gamerpic on Windows 10
Step 1: On your Windows 10 computer, launch the Xbox Console Companion app. You can quickly type “Xbox” into the search bar of the start menu, or find it in the Store.)
Step 2: Click on your Profile in the top left corner. It’s a circle with your gamerpic.
Step 3: Select your gamerpic and then edit it. If your profile í set to use as an avatar, click on Switch to gamerpic option.
Step 4: Click on “Choose a picture” option. Your chosen picture needs to be at least 1080 x 1080 size.
Step 5: Now, upload your image, browse to the folder containing it and select
Step 6: Crop the picture to fit with the circle using your mouse, and click on Upload.
After Microsoft verify your new picture, you will see it on the profile across your Windows 10 and Xbox One devices.
How to resize any picture for 1080 x 1080
As mentioned, all photos that are used on Xbox One need to be cropped into a square, they should be at least 1080 x 1080 resolution. You can resize any photo through the Paint app or other apps on your Windows computer. There is also a software that can help you easily do that, called Polarr. While these settings are a little different, basically, they are the same.
Step 1: First, you need to download Polarr from the Microsoft Store or search it on your smartphone.
Step 2: Once done, open Polarr, click on “Open Photos.”
Step 3: Browse to the folder containing the photo you want to edit.
Step 4: Click on the crop symbol on the right side of the screen.
Step 5: Choose aspect to crop it into a square image.
Step 6: Choose 1:1 and then drag the portion of the picture you want so that you can use it as an Xbox avatar.
Step 7: Click on the blue tick on the right once you finish.
Step 8: Click on the arrow icon at the top to save it
Step 9: Choose presets > Instagram post to get an image with1080 x 1080 resolution for your Xbox gamerpic.
Step 10: Make a copy and set a name for your new photo. Remember to store it in a folder that is easy to find out.
Step 11: Upload your picture to Xbox by following the steps above.
