Download Netflix movies on Android and iOS
If your device is in the above list and is compatible to download Netflix, ensure your device is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading and also make sure you have the latest version of the Netflix app installed on your phone. Finally, you need to have an active account on Netflix.
How to start the download
After launching the Netflix app, you can see a download icon locating at the bottom bar. From there, all downloaded movies and shows will show up, but you can also search for other favorite contents to download. All you need is clicking on the dedicated button, and you will be taken to a screen displaying all your downloadable contents.
Once you’ve searched for the movie or episode of a series you’d like to download, simply tap on the arrow icon and wait until the download completes. For movies, the download icon will be on the description page, while for series, the download icon is near each individual episode.
What to do if the download option is not available
If you are searching for a specific movie or TV series, but you don’t see the download icon is available, it means you cannot download the content. You should note that not all content on Netflix allows downloading.
Two functions you should know
There are two quite important functions which are hidden in the app settings. The first function allows you to choose the quality of the downloaded videos. You will be able to select between the standard quality and the superior quality, which uses up more memory but comes with the video quality up to 1080p.
For Android devices, you can make use of Smart Downloads feature, which is a sort of manager to help in keeping everything in the Downloads section in order. Turning on this option will also erase completely episodes and then replace them with subsequent ones. If the data consumption is your worry, simply rest assured that this feature can work if the Wi-Fi is available
Prepare an SD card for your device
If your phone has a microSD card slot, you can prepare a microSD card to save your movies and TV series instead of storing them on your device’s internal storage. To do so:
- Launch the Netflix app
- Navigate to the app’s settings menu
- Click on Download location from the download section
- From there, you can decide the location to save downloaded files
