Design & Build
The Asus ZenBook S is made from metal so that the lightweight design will not come at the expense of mobility or performance. On the back panel of the laptop, there is a concentric circle design that can also be recognized on the company’s Asus Zenfone 5Z smartphone flagship.
The ZenBook S includes three USB-C ports. Two of them support connection for external monitors through Thunderbolt 3, while the other one is only limited to charging and transferring data. Although the standard USB ports are no longer available, Asus adds two dongles in the box to convert USB-C to USB-A, and a USB-C to HDMI. At the bottom of the display, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack.
With ZenBook S, you also get a large trackpad housing a fingerprint scanner on the top right. According to Asus, the laptop has overcome the military-grade testing. It can prevent damage from drops, high variation, or humidity.
The Asus ZenBook S sports a 13.3-inch FullHD LED-backlit display with a glossy coating on top and an 85% screen-to-body ratio. The thin-bezel display is categorized under Asus. Despite the only standard Full HD resolution, the screen is very bright and has a warm tone to it.
According to the Taiwanese company, the ZenBook S’s display covers up to 72% of NTSC and 100% of sRGB color gamut, which states that it’s a worthy choice for digital creators. The viewing angles are also impressive, and the great colors compliment the premium build.
