How to bring custom text tones back on Galaxy phones

While custom text message tones seem to be a small feature, they can be useful. With a custom text message tone, we can know to respond to one notification among a range of default notification tones. If you have a custom text tone, but it has been lost after you updated your phone to Android Oreo, then this post will help you.

Before Samsung rolled out Android Oreo update for its supported Galaxy devices, in Samsung Contact option, there was a place allowing users to set a personal ringtone and notification tone for incoming messages. However, after the Oreo update, there is only the option to set a personal ringtone left.

Samsung has heard user’s feedback and has announced that the company would bring it back in the next update. However, that time for the update to individual users is not confirmed. So, if you still want a custom text tone for your individual contacts, you can still get them, but it requires you to switch to another text messaging app. This is exactly why you should use a third-party text messaging app to help you.
