Mixer Create is now a slow burner since, in iOS 11, the app was at the mercy of Apple’s ReplayKit to stream games. Those who like streaming could use Mixer Create to do their own “IRL” stream and broadcast themselves with the camera on their iPhone/iPad.
The latest version of Mixer Create is a very great application, and it’s super easy to use. Although it isn’t perfect, it’s better than the rest. Here’s how to use it for stream games on your iPhone/iPad.
Mixer Create and ReplayKit
Broadcasting with Mixer Create requires an iOS version that is later than iOS 11. Moreover, the game you will be playing needs to support Apple’s ReplayKit. However, the trouble is, if the developer’s app doesn’t support ReplayKit, you will not be able to use it.
Inside the app, you will fairly see basic controls, and you can make a little change to the quality of your stream. However, with or without ReplayKit, you won’t be able to directly start a game stream in Mixer Create.
If you rely on ReplayKit, there aren’t games out there supporting it. Some of them are Star Trek Timelines and Modern Combat 5: Breakout.
How to stream games with Mixer Create and ReplayKit
In this post, we’ll use Modern Combat 5: Breakout game as an example. Although the steps might be different from game to game, the overall process is the same. All you need is following these below steps:
- Launch the game that you want to stream on your iPhone/ iPad.
- Tap on the broadcast button from the home screen.
- In the popup window, choose Mixer Create.
- Type in a title for your stream.
- Tap on “start broadcast”.
The good thing is that you don’t need to return to the Mixer Create to do additional steps. You can easily handle the broadcast from. When you stream a game, you will see the same options for controlling the resolution of your stream or set it automatically.
How to stream games on iOS 11 or later
The first thing you should make sure that the screen recording option is added to Control Center on your iPhone/iPad. While it is there by default, if not, you can add it to the Control Center menu in customize controls of Settings app.
Next, you have to add Mixer Create as the source for your recordings, so that your device can broadcast to the Mixer Create app over saving to your gallery. But you should only do this when you start broadcasting, as it will send everything to Mixer. Here’s how to turn the feature on.
- Swipe up to open up Control Center.
- Hold on the screen recording
- Make sure you select Create
- Ensure microphone audio is enabled. (You have it stream any game audio to Mixer as iOS.)
- Tap on start recording to begin streaming.
Now simply go back to your game and play it as normal, and you’ll then broadcast it to the world.
