How to Troubleshoot Wi-Fi Issue in iOS 12
Check Your W-Fi Router
Sometimes, Wi-Fi Router is the culprit behind the Wi-Fi issues. So, the first thing you should do is giving it a fresh start.
Turn off your Wi-Fi router and then unplug it from the adapter. Now, wait for about 10 minutes and plug it back in. Wait for a minute, connect your iOS device to Wi-Fi again and check the result.
Note: You should also try connecting to another Wi-Fi network if it’s available. If you don’t see any problem while using other networks, it means your Wi-Fi connection is at fault.
Give Your Device A Fresh Start
You need to disconnect your iPhone/iPad from the Wi-Fi, restart it and then reconnect to the Wi-Fi network again. To do so:
- Launch Settings app → Tap on Wi-Fi.
- Tap on the “i” icon near a Wi-Fi network. Next, tap on Forget This Network and confirm your choice
- Now, disable Wi-Fi.
Now, you need to hard reset your device.
To reboot iPhone SE, 6s Plus, 6s or older models: simply press and hold home and power buttons at the same time for about 5-10 seconds.
To reboot iPhone 7/7 Plus, just press and hold Power + Volume Down buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds.
To reboot iPhone X, iPhone 8/8 Plus, press and quickly release volume up button. Do the same with volume down button. Next, you have to press and hold the Power button until Apple logo appears on the screen. Once your device has rebooted, connect to the Wi-Fi network again.

Reset Network Settings
Another reliable trick to get rid of the ill-functioning Wi-Fi on your iPhone/iPad is resetting the network settings. So, give it a try.
- Open Settings app on your device and tap on
- Scroll down and select Reset and tap on Reset Network Settings.
- Enter your Passcode and confirm your choice.
Now, connect to the Wi-Fi again and check. If the problem still persists, then move on to the next solution.
Disable Wi-Fi Networking Services
Another way you should try is disabling Wi-Fi networking services on your device. Once done, it will prevent your location from being used Wi-Fi.
- Launch Settings app and choose
- Tap on Location Services → System Services.
- Now toggle the switch next to Wi-Fi networking to off.
Downgrade to iOS 11/Update
If you have come to this far, the bug might be the wrecker-in-chief. Hence, it’s a good idea to take a backseat for now. You can return to iOS 11.4 from iOS 12. If you don’t want to return to iOS 11, then you should wait for other iOS 12 updates to fix your device’s issues.
