Adding a passcode is the popular way that many iOS users use to increase the security of your device. However, you might forget the passcode easily or your kids messed up the passcode or somebody made a lucky guess, then your device gets locked. When turning on the phone, you’ll see the ‘iPhone is disabled’ message. However, there is no need to worry as we have solutions for you.
How to Fix ‘iPhone is disabled’ Error Without iTunes Restore
If you have previously synced your device with iTunes, you can restore the device using the passcode.
- Connect the device to computer and then iTunes willopen it automatically
Note: In case iTunes asks entering a passcode, connect your iPhone to another computer that you previously used for iTunes sync.
- Right click on the device and choose Back Up At the bottom right of iTunes .
- Click on Restore after the backup is complete and you’ll see the error disappears.
In case you have never connected your iPhone to the computer, once you get the connection the device with iTunes, you’ll see the ‘iTunes can’t connect to the device because it has a passcode applied. Enter the passcode before it can connect to iTunes’ message. Follow the steps below to put your iPhone in Recovery Mode & restore it :
- Hold and press the Power button to turn off the device until you see the slider come up. Slide to power off your device.
- Launch iTunes, just connect the USB cable to iPhone (don’t connect it to computer)
- Now press and hold the Home Button (on iPhone 7/7 Plus is Volume Down key) and connect the other side of the USB cable to the computer.
- Keep holding the Home (Volume Down) button and wait for your device to turn on. After few minutes, the ‘Connect to iTunes’ message will appear on the device. Now you release the Home button.
- iTunes will display a message saying that your device has been detected in Recovery Mode. Select OK and start restoring your device.
Note: If you already turn on the Find My iPhone, you can try restoring the device through Remote Wipe feature. In case you keep an iCloud backup, try restoring the device through that backup.
