WhatsApp finally cut support for millions of smartphones using outdated operating systems. Users with these devices wouldn’t be able to use Whatsapp on their phone anymore.
Early last year, Whatsapp released the List of Smartphones That Will No Longer Support WhatsApp mainly because most of the device would lack the necessary capability to support their new features they rolled out and other new one to be released.
Now it’s time and whatsapp has pulled the plug on these devices; older Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone 7. Smartphone running Android 2.2 Froyo, iOS 6 and lower versions,Windows Phone 7 will no longer support WhatsApp. So, Whatsapp has stopped working on these Devices.
Sorry if your mobile phone falls to these categories but the decision is final and the only solution to this, to continue using whatsapp is to buy new phone that supports Whatsapp.
“If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp,” Whatsapp on its official blog.
However, Whatsapp extends support for BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 until June 30, 2017. So if you are using any mobile phone that falls into any of those category, the good news is you still have until June 30th, 2017 to upgrade to a new device and the bad news is the day will definitely come and the decision is final.
